Mr. Xie Qiuye attends 16+1 Energy Fair and Conference and EPPEI is awarded to be the China-Central and Eastern Europe Countries Center for Dialogue and Cooperation on Energy Project Chinese Secretaria

On November 8-10, 16+1 Energy Fair and Conference was held in Bucharest, Romania. Mr. Nur Bekri-Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission and Administrator of the National Energy Administration, P.R. China, Mr. Teodor Melescanu-Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Toma Petcu-Romanian Energy Minister, as well as energy ministers from other Central and Eastern European Countries (CEE countries) attend the opening ceremony. Mr. Xie Qiuye was invited to attend this event and make a speech. At the opening ceremony, EPPEI was officially awarded to be the China-Central and Eastern Europe Countries Center for Dialogue and Cooperation on Energy Project (16+1 center) Chinese Secretariat.

 

 

Mr. Nur Bekri pointed out in his speech that 16+1 center built an effective platform for cooperation between China and CEE countries. This fair and conference is the flagship event since 16+1 center was founded, which is of great significance for further deepening the practical cooperation in energy area. China will establish the 16+1” center Chinese Secretariat relying on EPPEI to carry out the China-CEE energy cooperation joint research and organize technical exchange activities regularly.

 

Mr. Xie Qiuye expressed gratitude to the National Energy Administration of P. R. China and energy departments of CEE countries for their supports. He introduced the main work and participation in international energy cooperation of EPPEI, pointed out that China and CEE countries have broad prospects in energy cooperation. EPPEI will give full play to the role of 16+1 center and Chinese Secretariat related work under the guidance and support of National Energy Administration of P. R. China and energy departments of CEE countries.

 

 

Mr. Xie Qiuye organized roundtable dialogue session with the topic of China-CEE countries energy cooperation opportunities and challenges under the background of "Belt and Road". Speakers from Chinese and CEE countries expressed various viewpoints and thoughts to further deepen energy cooperation between China and CEE countries from different angles, which provides important references to accelerate and promote pragmatic cooperation of all parties in the future.

 

It is understood that this event is an important measure to implement the Riga Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries published in November 2016. During this event, participants had discussions around the issues of strengthening energy cooperation between China and CEE countries, working together to build a modern, efficient and sustainable global energy structure etc. The delegates welcomed and supported to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China on energy based on 16+1 cooperation platform. This event adopted the Ministerial Statement on China-CEE Energy Cooperation Joint Research and White Paper on the cooperation and dialogue between CEE and China in the energy field. As the Chinese Secretariat of the 16+1 center, EPPEI will be responsible for China's energy enterprises to participate in energy projects development, technical exchanges and capacity cooperation in CEE countries, and take the lead in carrying out China-CEE Energy Cooperation Joint Research related work.
